A Year in the Life of a Face Facts Babe – 2020!
Well this is going to be a bit different…
2020 the year the *huh, hum* really hit the fan! And all we had to wipe it with was this…
But before all that craziness started we had…
January
and we started the year off by saying goodbye not only to 2019, but to our lovely Karen.
Karen had been with us for many years,so it was a sad farewell from us and from you too,
but we wished her so much love and luck on her new venture!
February
Leighanne joined our busy Buxton team and slotted in like we had known her forever. Her previous working life had also been in the industry, but more spa and managerial based and she was ready to get back into the realms of the beauty world, becoming more hands on.
She had acquired lots of brilliant skills during her time in the spa industry, massage being one she is truly skilful in and so we were grateful to have her on board.
Massage practice anyone? *cue ALL FFBabes on the bed!
Also this month…
Lights, Camera, Action…After our complete refurb at the end of the year, the salon was in the spotlight with a photo shoot.
March
Now this is where things got a bit tricky… Lockdown 1.0
Its hard to even remember back here as we seemed to enter such a surreal, blurry haze. Totally unexpected yet expected. We tried to prepare ourselves, but it was still such a shock! For us, as for everyone, the unknown was the scariest part. We closed our doors to enter some unprecedented times…
But there was no getting away from it, it was time to get our thinking caps on and bring the salon to you at home. whether that be our tips and tricks, through posts and videos on social media, our NEW beautiful online shop and home delivery or our email updates which actually reading over we managed quite a lot…
April & May
Pam decorated her whole house from top to bottom. She turned into quite the Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen although Pam’s lockdown hair probably wasn’t quite up to scratch for that comparison.
Although the salon was shut physically in every other aspect Rachel was trying to keep the salon alight so was knee deep wading through legislations and guidelines. She also set herself up on a 30 day yoga course while entering the world of homeschooling participating in some Joe Wicks and a bit of Mary Berry style baking too.
Amy became Miss Demolishion traveling up and down the country working alongside her partner. Swapping treatments for tractors and manicures for muck!
Emily became Miss Postie delivering products for your every need. Participating in lots of zoom quizzes and managing to lose every single one. Homeschooling went well with some added circilculam activities such as Netflix and Disney+.
Leighanne became a mummy to the cutest baby doggie Ronnie. She also designed and created her own garden furniture! Made completely by hand with wooden pallets, painted and perfectly polished.
Jade was her usual bundle of joy and set too on many hikes fit for ramblers with the kids as well as lots of crazy activities and fun in the sun for them which they absolutely loved.
And Sarah was relaxing on maternity….*AUTO CORRECT*
Sarah would have liked to have been relaxing on maternity but was instead entertaining and running around after a 2 year old. She never thought some chickens down the road would be her saviour.
June
Our birthday month and this year we were 35!
35 Years of Face Facts Buxton WOW!
Probably our most testing year yet but one to certainly be proud of nonetheless and of course we were still happy to celebrate it in our own homes and have an excuse for a bit MORE wine.
July
Finally, our chance had arrived! The Grand Re-Opening
Our big, round, food/wine stuffed bellies were filled with (well mainly that) and a little bit of nervous excitement as we finally opened our doors again.
At this time we couldn’t do any face treatments but we were SO SO happy to be able to see you again and so were your hairy legs, cracked feet and non-existent nails, apparently!
August
Another bit of positivity followed with the announcement of another new utterly gorgeous
ffbaby into the world.
Jasmine Olivia Neale; weighing 7lb15, turning the beautiful Freya into one proud big sister.
It was also the month we were allowed to do close contact services again and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on those blocked pores and monobrows!
September/October
These two months consisted of us really getting back in to the swing of things enjoying what we love to do best with the welcomed addition of our customer service award. We feel very proud!
Also, A NEW fabulous treatment medical upgrade launch and brand NEW Guinot facial DetOxygene, with amazing results already being achieved for both.
AND Leighanne got stuck into her Guinot training, Emily into Medik8
Life at the Salon was going as smooth as a post quarantine wax!
November
Lockdown 2.0…Sometimes you’ve just got to ROLL with life and..
So we did our best. This time round Amy became a Mummy to a gorgeous little puppy Winston. Rachel decided to take Pam on with the decorating and do her own home, top to bottom too. Pam had a good rest. Emily went off hiking. Jade and Leigahnne got into the Christmas spirit and Sarah was enjoying being mummy to her two beautiful girls.
December
Finally Back in Business!
Just in time for one of our busiest times of the year and hopefully the last time we have to do all that again!
Luckily all The FFBabes have kept safe, well and Covid free in our Covid secure salon.
We do hope you have all felt looked after and safe and secure on your visits. We will keep trying our very best to keep you safe, whilst feeling pampered and being preened. This is a very strange world we are living in and learning to adapt will continue for some time.
To end on a positive,
We’ve really realised this year that we are truly grateful for our health, family and friends. The NHS and ALL Keyworkers. We’re really grateful and in many cases so fortunate to be able to carry on with our little salon providing a service that we ABSOLUTLY LOVE.
But most of all we’re really appreciative of YOU.
Even more so than ever before (and thats saying something) so THANK YOU for supporting us through thick think and all the in-between.
